History Of Masseria

The rural structure is born in the XIX century as shepherds' lodging and refuge of the animals. It rises to the limit of one “lama” (subsidence of the ground produced by the slide of the waters) anciently said “Cazzacaldaia” or “Lamaluzzi”. It is surrounded by wells and caves useful once in the agricultural activities, among which must be remembered the “Salvanaca” one (Medieval epoch) quoted in a 1343 document.
